Has your iPhone still signed in to an old Apple ID? Maybe you’ve gotten a new email address, or you’re setting up a device you just bought from a friend. Changing the Apple account on your iPhone is a common task, but it’s important to do it correctly to avoid losing precious data like your photos, contacts, and messages.
The process isn’t just one single switch; it depends on what you want to achieve. You might want to simply sign out and sign in with a different account, or you may need to change the primary account used for the App Store and other services. Signing Out of Your Apple ID Completely
If you’re giving away your iPhone or making a full account switch, signing out is the way to go. Open the Settings app and tap on your name at the very top. Scroll all the way down and you’ll find a red Sign Out button. Your iPhone will ask if you want to keep a copy of your key data, like calendars and Safari bookmarks, on the device.
